Second Alarm House Fire
10:00am this morning, fire alarm received calls for a structure fire on Gracey Ave. with a victim in the process of being removed. Companies were training over at Giuffrida Park for cold water rescue when the fire came in. This being only 2.5 minutes from my house, I was “first due” and beat the first in company. Heavy fire on arrival with the victim being tended to by PD and Hunters Ambulance. Car 4 (Shift Commander) requested a second alarm on his arrival. With hoarding conditions and heavy fire throughout, companies worked exterior operations and Truck 2’s ladder pipe was put into operation. The FMO is investigating. Mutual aid was provided to the City from Wallingford, Southington and Middletown.
