Companies responded to 223 Blackstone Village in the North End for reports of smoke in the apartment. Engine 4 first due reported smoke and the smell of class A burning with light smoke showing from the gable. 4s stretched a line and went searching for heat signatures within. Truck 1 laddered the roof and used their TICs to find hot spots as the results from an earlier lighting strike from a powerful storm cell that moved over the city. The strike caused insulation materials and the rafters in the attic to smolder causing a smoke condition. A working fire was called and brought in an additional Engine to the scene. 2 lines were operated and extensive overhaul was conducted to extinguish everything.
