126 Anne Street 8/20/25

8.20.25 | City of Meriden Fire struck 🔔🔔 for Anne Street for a working structure fire earlier today. I was late to the party but here is a rundown from the city’s posting.

At approximately 10:00 AM Wednesday, the Meriden Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a fire outside 126 Ann Street, with flames approaching the structure. Engine 5, Engine 4, Engine 3, Truck 1, Car 4, and Car 9 were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire on the rear exterior of the house, as well as fire extending into the interior. Due to the intensity of the fire, an additional engine was requested.

Two bystanders rescued the resident from the home before emergency crews arrived. One of the rescuers, an Uber driver, had noticed the fire while passing by and stopped to assist. The victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment of burns sustained in the fire.

Firefighting efforts were initially delayed due to low pressure from the primary fire hydrant. Crews worked quickly to secure a secondary water source. A second alarm was transmitted for additional resources.

Mutual aid was provided by @wallingford_fire_department and @southington_fd , who responded to the scene to support suppression efforts. Middletown Fire provided station coverage for the city.

The fire was successfully knocked down. No firefighter injuries were reported.
