Big evening tonight for the Meriden Fire Department. Tonight, at Maloney High School, the department and City of Meriden’s newest Fire Chief (Car 1), Cristina Schoeck was sworn in. Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz swore in Chief Schoeck while the honorable Michael Quinn was our MC for the event. Retired Chief Ken Morgan removed his badge and presented to Cristina’s husband, Meriden Fire Assistant Chief (Shift Commander) Steven Schoeck for him to pin on her uniform. Multiple city and state officials along with on duty, off duty members, friends and family were in attendance for this event. Chief Schoeck is the first female Chief in the department’s history.
